Hayton Castle near Aspatria is a fine old house with a remarkable history. Parts of the building are believed to date back to the 11th or 12th century. On the night of 17th May 1568 it played host to Mary Queen of Scots then 80 years later Oliver Cromwell did his best to destroy it.

With a walled-up room, a priest hole and dungeons all it needs is a resident ghost...

Join "The Lady" for an evening of Cumbrian Ghost stories in front of a crackling fire before being taken on a lantern-lit tour of part of the house.

There will be a warm glass of mulled wine on arrival with tea/coffee and a home-made mince-pie at the end.

Fireside Tales at Hayton Castle is a ticket only event and has been developed with an adult audience in mind.
